Ablakwa Pledges Integrity and Patriotism as Chair of ORAL Team

North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has officially accepted his appointment as the chairman of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) team, vowing to lead with duty, integrity, and patriotism.

In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Ablakwa expressed gratitude to President-elect John Dramani Mahama for the trust placed in him.

“I humbly accept to chair this ORAL Team with a profound sense of duty, integrity, and patriotism. We are grateful to President-elect H.E. John Mahama for the confidence reposed in us. For God and Country. Ghana First,” Ablakwa wrote.

The ORAL initiative, announced by Mahama’s transition team, aims to recover public funds lost to corruption and hold perpetrators accountable. As part of this preparatory measure, the team will gather information from citizens and credible sources on suspected acts of corruption, setting the stage for Mahama’s anti-corruption drive.

Members of the ORAL Team:

The team is composed of seasoned professionals with diverse expertise:

  • Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Chairman
  • Mr. Daniel Domelevo – Former Auditor-General
  • COP (Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye – Retired police officer with investigative experience
  • Mr. Martin Kpebu – Private legal practitioner and anti-corruption advocate
  • Mr. Raymond Archer – Investigative journalist

Mahama’s Anti-Corruption Agenda

Anti-corruption efforts, with Operation Recover All Loot as a central pillar, were a key focus of John Mahama’s 2024 presidential campaign. The initiative reflects his commitment to fiscal accountability and good governance.

In a statement, the transition team emphasized that Mahama “intends to hit the ground running” with these promises. The team will prioritize retrieving stolen resources, enforcing accountability, and addressing public sector mismanagement.

Joyce Bawa Mogtari’s Remarks

Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Special Aide to President-elect Mahama, has also issued a stern warning to individuals implicated in corruption under the outgoing NPP administration. In an interview with Channel One TV on December 10, she stressed that the new government is committed to pursuing justice and recovering looted public funds.

“Ghanaians have given Mahama a massive win to deliver. We need to recover the looted resources and complete all abandoned projects,” she stated.

Mogtari underscored the public’s expectation for economic recovery, accountability, and respect from leadership. She criticized the outgoing government’s handling of corruption and the economy, noting unresolved issues such as unpaid debts to Independent Power Producers (IPPs), stalled infrastructure projects, and declining investor confidence.

“There has to be a reason why investment is at an all-time low. Why are we told about roads that don’t exist? Why are corruption efforts so lackluster? These are the questions we must answer,” she added.

As Mahama’s administration prepares to take office, the ORAL team represents a bold step toward restoring public trust and ensuring that Ghana’s resources are managed responsibly. With Ablakwa at the helm, the team is poised to deliver on Mahama’s promise of accountability and justice.
