Tensions Rise Between Davido and 50 Cent Ahead of London Concert
The international music scene is heating up as a brewing feud between Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido and American rap legend 50 Cent takes center stage.
Davido has officially pulled out of the upcoming July 3rd concert in London, where he was scheduled to perform alongside 50 Cent and R&B icon Mary J. Blige. The show is set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium — but now, the headlines are dominated by controversy.
According to Davido, the show’s organizers, Necto Future Group, have disrespected him, and by extension, Africa. In a statement shared online, Davido made it clear: “Africa must be respected too.”
On the other side, 50 Cent is standing firm. The G-Unit rapper has dismissed Davido’s complaints, calling him a “cry baby” and claiming the Nigerian artist is simply looking for sympathy. 50 asserts that this is his event, one that he has been bankrolling through much of his world tour via personal investment, ticket sales, and sponsorships.
Sources say 50 Cent allocated 5,000 seats specifically for Davido to promote and sell — but alleges the singer failed to deliver on that agreement.
However, this tension isn’t new.
Their rivalry dates back to June 2023, when the two performed at the same event. At that show, 50 Cent appeared visibly displeased with the performance schedule, which had Davido closing the night after his set.
Before performing his final song, 50 took a direct jab at Davido by saying:
“I am about to do my last song, because I hear the biggest African artist, Burna Boy, is backstage and that’s who you’re all waiting for.”
The crowd reportedly shouted Davido’s name, but 50 laughed it off — suggesting the diss was intentional. Given the logistics and artist briefings involved in such events, many believe 50 knew full well Davido was the scheduled headliner that night.
Now, with the Tottenham concert fast approaching, the fallout has reached new heights. Davido, known for his global hit “Unavailable”, seems determined to assert his place on the world stage. Meanwhile, 50 Cent appears unwilling to share the spotlight.
With egos clashing and fans choosing sides, one thing is clear: this summer’s music scene is boiling over.
