GCB Bank Appoints Farihan Alhassan as New Managing Director
GCB Bank PLC has announced the appointment of Farihan Alhassan as its new Managing Director, effective January 28, 2025. His appointment follows the amicable departure of the previous Managing Director, Mr. Kofi Adomakoh.
The Board of Directors has approved Mr. Alhassan’s nomination, subject to shareholder approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting and regulatory clearance from the Bank of Ghana and other relevant authorities.
Career Highlights
At 44, Farihan Alhassan is a seasoned finance professional with two decades of experience in the banking sector. Prior to joining GCB, he served as the Executive in charge of the Business & Commercial Clients Unit at Stanbic Bank Ghana, where he led the bank’s commercial banking strategy and enhanced its nationwide business performance.
Mr. Alhassan’s career trajectory has been remarkable. At just 26 years old, he became the youngest Regional Manager at Barclays Bank (now Absa), later serving as Head of Retail and Distribution. His people-focused leadership style and strategic insights significantly contributed to the institution’s growth and success.
He is known for his expertise in transforming underperforming units, fostering business growth, and building resilient organisations. His areas of expertise include business development, operational management, credit and risk oversight, and leadership.
