Bawumia Commends Manifesto Committee Members for Dedication and Hard Work
The Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to members of the 2024 NPP manifesto subcommittee for their dedication and effort in crafting a comprehensive policy document for the election.
Dr. Bawumia hosted the committee members, including chairpersons, vice-chairpersons, and other contributors, at his residence in Accra on Monday. During the meeting, he commended them for their commitment and diligence in putting together the manifesto, which he described as transformational.
“I want to express sincere gratitude and appreciation to all of you for your dedication and hard work towards putting together such a comprehensive document, which we presented to Ghanaians,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
While acknowledging the party’s loss in the election, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his pride in the quality of the manifesto and its policies. He noted that voter apathy among over two million core NPP supporters across the country significantly impacted the party’s performance.
“It was as if our people held a meeting across the country and decided they won’t go out to vote,” Dr. Bawumia remarked, highlighting the need for introspection within the party.
The Vice President called for a thorough review of the factors behind the voter apathy, assuring that the party would conduct comprehensive research as part of its reorganization efforts. He stressed that understanding and addressing these issues would be critical to the party’s future success.
On the manifesto itself, Dr. Bawumia encouraged committee members not to feel that their work had been in vain, expressing optimism that the document’s vision would benefit the nation in the long term.
“God willing, we will all benefit from this document in the future,” he assured them.
Also in attendance at the meeting was Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, who chaired the Manifesto Committee for the 2024 Bawumia Campaign. The gathering served as an opportunity to reflect on the election’s outcome and to strategize for the party’s path forward.
