East Legon Accident: Bishop Salifu Amoako’s Son Sentenced to Six Months

The teenage son of Bishop Salifu Amoako has been sentenced to six months at the Senior Correctional Center following a tragic accident in East Legon that claimed the lives of two people.

The young driver was convicted of manslaughter after his vehicle collided with another, resulting in the instant deaths of two passengers. Initially, the teenager pleaded not guilty to charges of manslaughter, negligently causing harm, dangerous driving, and driving without a license. However, he later changed his plea to guilty, leading to his sentencing.

As part of the court’s decision, the teenager is required to report to probation officers every two weeks. Additionally, he must sign an undertaking not to drive until he reaches the age of 18.

In a related ruling, the court fined the teenager’s parents 500 penalty units each, equivalent to GHc 6,000, for failing to adequately supervise their son. The parents were also ordered to pay compensation for damages caused in the accident, including a light pole valued at GHc 8,000.
